Last week, October 27, Homestead sent a team to the regional We The People competition at Ivy Tech. The program judges students’ knowledge concerning the Constitution and their ability to apply it to real world problems. At competition, the students read essays that they have written during class and then answer questions from lawyers and judges.

After preparing since the beginning of the school year, the Homestead class came in second, beating Heritage and North Side.

The experience will help the students going forward. They have gained significant knowledge on the Constitution and developed important skills speaking and thinking on their feet.

Coach Thomas Yoder and Keith Potter are going to stay with Homestead going into state. The teacher Mrs. Warfield has also begun preparing the class for the more challenging competition to come.

State competition is scheduled for December.
