For some of us needing a graphing refresher, the Spartana is pleased to offer help to those struggling with graph making. As readers have pointed out, our graphing abilities on staff are rather lackluster. We are writing this article to appease ourselves and to point out our erroneous ways. To the people of Homestead, keep fighting the fake news. Below, in consultation with AP Statistics teacher Brian Nicholson, is a checklist to ensure a proper graph.

The Checklist:

Good graphical displays begin with the correct data. The graphical displays should be relevant and seek to visually communicate the data clearly and honestly

A correct title for a graph includes the all variables being explored and units of measure.

All graphs need to be clearly labeled and appropriately scaled.

All graphs need labelled units that increase in a set interval scale throughout.

If the graph does not begin with a y-axis starting at zero, it should be clearly marked as truncated.
